Who Is A Missionary's Daughter?

Ericka Riggins-Brown is a beacon of hope and transformation whose ministry bridges the Christian community and the wider world. A licensed evangelist, author, speaker, and visionary leader, she draws deeply from her Hempstead, Long Island roots to inspire faith, resilience, and unity—especially among women and youth. She currently serves as Vice President for the East Region Music Department and as first lady of Beth-el COGIC in West Hempstead, NY, serving alongside her husband, her “Blessing,” in a partnership that reflects God’s faithfulness.

Ericka travels nationally conducting workshops on true sisterhood, mentoring leaders, and building thriving, supportive communities. A self-described “sisterventionist,” she founded Sister, I Got Your Back (SIGYB)—a ministry that has grown over 13 years from eight women to more than 400 across several states. She also established The Merger (formerly Stop Tripping Crusade), a non-denominational platform that guides and influences young people, and designed a 10-session program for 4th–6th-grade girls that nurtures confidence, character, and connection.

Within the Church Of God In Christ (COGIC), Ericka serves as a coordinator for young adult and teen initiatives and contributes to the national financial department. In recognition of her spiritual leadership and impact, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Ministry from Anointed by God Theological Seminary in March 2014.

Ericka’s journey of faith began at seven and has been forged through profound trials—teenage pregnancy, homelessness, abuse, and three failed suicide attempts. Her candid testimony reveals the redemptive power of God and calls the overlooked and unheard into healing and purpose. Guided by Psalm 119:17, she lives with a clear resolve: “I refuse to let my living be in vain—I owe God too much.”

An accomplished author, Ericka wrote The Year of the Sister Challenge—30 Ways in 30 Days to Empower, Encourage and Support Other Women and is completing A Missionary’s Daughter—The Good, The Bad and The Promise.
